McDonald, who frequents the course three to four times a week and prefers walking, maintains his strong physical condition through regular exercise and healthy habits. Having started playing golf at the age of 30 while serving in the air force, McDonald quickly excelled in the sport and won three national titles in military tournaments. Since retiring from the military in 1995, he has continued his golfing passion and resides near the Ashburn course for easy access to his beloved pastime.
