“85-Year-Old Golfer Shoots Even Par 72, Beats Age by 13 Strokes”

David McDonald, an 85-year-old golfer from Fall River, N.S., recently achieved a remarkable feat by shooting an even-par 72 at the challenging Ashburn Golf Club’s new course. Despite playing from the silver tees, which measure nearly 5,800 yards, McDonald surpassed expectations by beating his age by 13 strokes, a significant accomplishment in golf.

McDonald, who frequents the course three to four times a week and prefers walking, maintains his strong physical condition through regular exercise and healthy habits. His dedication to the sport has allowed him to consistently score in the high 70s, showcasing his skill and perseverance on the golf course.

Having started playing golf at the age of 30 while serving in the air force, McDonald quickly excelled in the sport and won three national titles in military tournaments. Since retiring from the military in 1995, he has continued his golfing passion and resides near the Ashburn course for easy access to his beloved pastime.

With 17 career holes-in-one under his belt, McDonald’s passion for the game remains unwavering as he continues to chase his 18th ace. His commitment to staying active and engaged in golf serves as a testament to the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and regular physical activity, inspiring others to pursue their passions regardless of age.
