Tragic Fatality in Prince George Emergency Plane Landing

Date:

Prince George RCMP have verified that an individual has passed away following an emergency landing of a plane on Foothills Boulevard, approximately 1.5 kilometers north of North Nechako Road. The RCMP stated that two motor vehicles were part of the incident.

A statement from the RCMP expressed sorrow over the fatality, which involved an occupant of one of the vehicles. The condition of the other vehicle occupants and those on the plane remains uncertain. The public has been advised to steer clear of the area as Foothills Boulevard has been shut down to both directions of traffic overnight and into the next day.

The Transportation Safety Board will lead the investigation, as per the police. Emergency services responded to the northern Prince George location where a small aircraft made an emergency landing on a busy road. The event occurred close to Highland Drive on Foothills Boulevard around 2:30 p.m. PT.

B.C. Emergency Health Services received a call and dispatched medical teams to the scene. Paramedics assessed ten individuals, with two of them taken to the hospital in stable condition. Witness Mohit Arora described witnessing the plane descending onto the road, colliding with a pickup truck, and narrowly missing his own vehicle.

Prince George Fire Rescue mentioned they were addressing a “serious motor vehicle incident involving a plane.” The Transportation Safety Board identified the aircraft involved as a Beech King Air 200 and announced their team’s deployment to investigate in Prince George.

Photographs taken by Arora depicted the aircraft with a damaged wing and a broken propeller on the road. A yellow car and a pickup truck were also seen with apparent damage from the incident. Authorities have urged people to avoid the area, emphasizing that the road closure will persist for an extended period.
