“Canada’s Women’s Basketball Team Dominates in FIBA Pre-Qualifying Tournament”

The Canadian national women’s basketball team concluded the group stage of the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament with a victory over Mexico in Guadalajara, securing a 70-64 win. Yvonne Ejim led the team with 19 points, contributing to Canada’s perfect 3-0 record, while Syla Swords added 17 points to the scoreboard. Mariana Valenzuela scored 17 points for the Mexican team.

Up next, Canada is scheduled to face New Zealand in the semifinals on Saturday, while the host team will compete against Brazil. The tournament final is slated for Sunday. The champion of the tournament will secure a spot in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments scheduled for February 2028.
