“Stunning Partial Lunar Eclipse Dazzles Skywatchers”

Skywatchers in the Americas, Europe, and Africa were treated to a partial lunar eclipse on Thursday evening and into Friday. Known as the “almost blood moon,” the eclipse reached its peak just after midnight ET, with Earth’s shadow covering 96 percent of the moon’s visible surface, resulting in a near-total lunar eclipse. The next lunar eclipse is not expected until New Year’s Eve in 2028.

In Canada, observers in Vancouver witnessed the full moon during the eclipse phase, capturing stunning celestial views. Similarly, residents in Winnipeg and Toronto were able to witness the partial lunar eclipse in the night sky.

Across other parts of the Americas, individuals in Texas, Washington, D.C., New Orleans, Ciudad Juarez in Mexico, and Salvador in Brazil also had the opportunity to view the partial lunar eclipse. The eclipse was visible behind various landmarks and natural settings, providing a unique and captivating experience for sky enthusiasts.

In Europe, the moon during the partial lunar eclipse was visible over Warsaw, with spectators in London and Lisbon also enjoying the celestial event. The lunar eclipse in Goutz, France, showcased a reddish hue, adding to the mystique of the astronomical phenomenon.

Overall, the partial lunar eclipse provided a rare and awe-inspiring sight for spectators across different regions, emphasizing the beauty and wonder of the night sky.
