Samsung Halts Support for Galaxy S21 Series

Date:

Samsung Galaxy smartphone owners need to be aware of recent changes in software support. Samsung has officially halted support for three older models: Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 Ultra. These devices will no longer receive crucial software updates, including security patches. This move was confirmed by Samsung on its security update page, where these models were removed from the list of supported devices that receive regular security patches to safeguard against vulnerabilities and data breaches.

Although manufacturers typically continue to provide security updates even after ending major Android version updates, the exclusion of the S21 series from Samsung’s support list indicates that these phones will not receive any further system updates. If you are still using one of these models released in 2021, it is advisable to consider upgrading for enhanced security measures.

Samsung initially promised four years of Android updates and five years of security updates for the S21 series, but these commitments have now concluded in 2026. In contrast, newer Galaxy S models like the latest Galaxy S25 offer extended support with seven years of Android and security updates, ensuring prolonged usability.

Notably, the Galaxy S21 FE continues to receive quarterly security updates and is expected to do so for at least another year. For those contemplating an upgrade, it might be prudent to wait a bit longer as Samsung is anticipated to unveil the Galaxy S26 series in the near future. Speculated upgrades for the new series include a faster processor, improved camera capabilities, enhanced design, and better battery performance.

Stay tuned for updates on the launch of the Galaxy S26 series, with experts suggesting a potential reveal as early as February 25. Mirror Online will continue to monitor the latest Samsung developments and provide timely updates.
