“Man Faces Attempted Murder Charges in Dublin Attack”

Date:

A 34-year-old man named Paul Brannigan, residing in Lealand Drive, Clondalkin, faces charges of attempted murder and assault causing harm against Alexis Campion, a 44-year-old mother of two. The incident, which took place on November 25 at Ms. Campion’s residence in Oak Downs, Clondalkin, Dublin, resulted in severe burns that have significantly impacted her life. Following the attack, she was hospitalized and remained in a coma for several weeks.

During a court appearance before Judge John Hughes at Dublin District Court, Brannigan, along with two co-defendants, Nathan Dolan, 18, and Keith McCabe, 41, faced charges related to threatening Ms. Campion and another individual at the property, as well as extortion by demanding money with threats on the same date.

Brannigan, dressed in a black T-shirt and grey trousers, remained silent in court and did not enter a plea. He was remanded in custody due to the serious nature of the charges, which require a High Court bail application. Both Dolan and McCabe also faced charges and were granted legal aid, with future court appearances scheduled.

The trio was arrested earlier in the week and detained for questioning before being charged and held for the court hearing. Investigations have included searches of multiple properties in Clondalkin and Ballyfermot areas, with a family liaison officer assigned to provide updates to Ms. Campion and her family.

Authorities are urging anyone with information or relevant footage, including dashcam recordings, to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation. Brannigan and McCabe are set to appear at Cloverhill District Court, while Dolan is scheduled for a hearing at the same court on different dates, pending further directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
