“Voters Unconvinced: Trump’s Inflation Management Disapproved”

Date:

Over the past year, U.S. President Donald Trump has been urging voters not to be concerned about the increasing prices. Trump has dismissed worries about affordability as a tactic by Democrats, claimed that consumer prices had decreased during his presidency when they had actually risen, and repeatedly stated that gas and diesel costs, which surged after he initiated the conflict with Iran, would soon decrease.

Despite Trump’s assertions, various polls show that voters are not convinced by his arguments, giving him poor ratings on the cost of living. According to Silver Bulletin, which consolidates public polling, over 70% of American respondents disapprove of Trump’s management of inflation on average.

The latest data on inflation is not favorable for Trump and the Republican Party as they aim to retain control of the U.S. Congress in the upcoming midterm elections on November 3, less than three weeks away.

The U.S. Department of Labor reported that the consumer price index rose by 3.7% in September compared to the previous year, primarily driven by increases in fuel and clothing prices.
