A prominent vape company headquartered in Leicestershire has gone into administration, claiming to be the largest firm of its kind. JM Wholesale, known for supplying vape devices, e-liquids, disposable vapes, and nicotine pouches, made this move following the submission of a notice on March 20, as reported by the Gazette.
The company took this step through legal firm Shakespeare Martineau, appointing Christopher Lewis and Chris Newell from Quantuma as administrators. Offering over 15,000 products, JM Wholesale boasts selling renowned brands such as Elf Bar, SKE Crystal, Lost Mary, ELUX, OXVA, Vaporesso, Voopoo, and Aspire.
Positioning itself as the top distributor in the vaping, CBD, and smoking sector in the UK, JM Wholesale’s website currently states that they are not accepting orders due to ongoing maintenance, thanking customers for their patience. The company’s most recent accounts for the year ending in February 2025 revealed a workforce of 47 employees, with no further details disclosed about the reasons for the administration.
Founded in 2017 by university students who had difficulty finding quality products online, JM Wholesale rapidly expanded, relocating to a larger facility in Leicester and hiring an additional 30 staff members within four years. It was the first mainstream CBD wholesaler in the UK, contributing to the booming CBD industry in the country.
In recognition of its achievements, JM Wholesale received several awards in 2022, including the Business Elite Awards’ Best Vape & E-liquid Wholesaler, Global Excellence Awards’ Best CBD Distributor & Manufacturer, and the Corporate Excellence Awards’ Most Innovative Wholesale Distributor.
This development follows the UK’s implementation of a ban on single-use vapes sales to combat environmental waste and tackle youth nicotine addiction.
