President Donald Trump provided an update regarding the construction of a large underground military bunker beneath the White House, amidst ongoing controversy over his proposed $300 million ballroom project. The initiative, centered on the desired White House ballroom, has stirred debate following the demolition of the East Wing to create a sizable event space and the concurrent construction of a previously undisclosed underground military facility.
During a press briefing aboard Air Force One, Trump disclosed that the construction of the underground complex had been inadvertently exposed due to a lawsuit related to the ballroom project. He emphasized that the military is constructing a substantial facility beneath the ballroom, incorporating advanced protective measures.
Trump described the ballroom as concealing the construction underneath it, highlighting the inclusion of high-grade bulletproof glass to safeguard the facility from potential threats like drones. Despite legal challenges, a US District Court judge ruled in favor of halting ballroom construction until formal approval from Congress is secured, acknowledging the project’s national security components.
