Topshop makes a comeback on the UK high street through a new collaboration with John Lewis. The renowned fashion brand, which shuttered its standalone stores in 2021, will now be featured in all 32 department stores of John Lewis and on its website. Topman products will also be available in seven of these stores.
The comeback launch includes a curated selection of 130 popular Topshop items, with a focus on their iconic denim pieces. This move follows a series of successful pop-up events at various John Lewis locations and is part of John Lewis’ substantial £800 million investment in new brands for the upcoming spring/summer season.
Topshop and Topman vanished from UK high streets after their previous owner, Arcadia, went into administration in 2021. The brand was subsequently acquired by ASOS, which reintroduced Topshop products online. Topshop made a return to London’s Oxford Street last year with a launch at Liberty department store.
Michelle Wilson, Topshop’s managing director, expressed excitement about the partnership with John Lewis, emphasizing the convenience for customers to browse, touch, and purchase their favorite Topshop and Topman items on the same day. The collaboration with John Lewis enables Topshop to reestablish its presence on high streets across the UK, offering customers the service quality they expect.
The revival aligns with London Fashion Week and will be followed by a special event at Piccadilly Circus in London, with additional activations planned nationwide. The launch signifies John Lewis’ commitment to growth and transformation under the leadership of Peter Ruis, pushing forward with its fashion strategy.
John Lewis, part of the John Lewis Partnership alongside Waitrose, is intensifying its focus on fashion to drive its strategic objectives. Peter Ruis, John Lewis’ managing director, views the partnership with Topshop as a pivotal moment in elevating the brand’s fashion profile and solidifying its position as a leading style destination on the British high street.
In addition to the Topshop collaboration, John Lewis is introducing 14 new fashion, jewelry, and accessory brands this season, further expanding its fashion offerings.
