A wicked child predator who coerced a teenage girl in the US into becoming his “sexual servant” has been revealed as a global offender who operated from his brother’s residence. Trevor Fernandes, aged 41, was sentenced to over ten years in prison in 2022 for grooming and manipulating a young girl in the US into engaging in abusive behavior with herself and another child. His arrest in 2020 by National Crime Agency officers followed the girl’s report of the abuse to Garland, Texas police.
Upon his incarceration, NCA detectives uncovered Fernandes’ mobile phone, revealing 15 additional victims he had targeted while residing in his brother’s basement. He communicated with teenagers from Canada, Norway, and the US, as well as girls in the UK, managing a group on Kik social media platform. Fernandes, posing as a teenage boy, pressured young girls to send explicit photos and videos, then coerced them into degrading acts like licking toilet seats and drinking their own urine if they disobeyed.
In November of last year, Fernandes pleaded guilty to 67 more charges at Swindon Crown Court, where His Hon Judge Townsend described his actions as some of the most severe offenses of this nature seen by the court and sentenced him to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 13 years and eight months.
Danielle Pownall, Senior Investigating Officer at NCA, stated, “Fernandes is a dangerous and prolific child sex offender, preying on vulnerable children with threats and coercion to commit heinous acts. The bravery of the young girl who reported the abuse allowed for Fernandes’ apprehension, preventing further harm to children. The NCA, along with US authorities and the Crown Prosecution Service, diligently worked to bring Fernandes to justice.”
Detectives initiated an investigation after the US victim disclosed her communication with someone named “Trevor” who manipulated her into sending explicit images. Subsequently, Fernandes’ arrest led to the discovery of incriminating materials on his devices, including a mobile phone with encrypted content. Further examination revealed Fernandes’ use of various online messaging apps under different usernames to engage in illicit activities.
Continuing their analysis, NCA investigators uncovered more offenses against additional victims, leading to Fernandes facing 67 new charges, including blackmail and incitement of sexual activity with minors. Jeanette Smith, a prosecutor in the CPS’s Organised Child Sexual Abuse Unit, emphasized the collaboration with international partners to ensure Fernandes faces the consequences of his reprehensible actions and protect potential future victims.
Smith urged individuals in similar situations to seek help, emphasizing the importance of reporting abuse for justice to prevail.
