A recent incident involving a drone striking Vladimir Putin’s flagship frigate, Admiral Grigorovich, has caused concern for the Russian leader. The vessel, known for its use of deadly Kalibr cruise missiles in attacks on Ukraine, was reportedly hit in Novorossiysk, Russia’s Black Sea port. The attack, believed to be a long-range strike, targeted various key locations in Novorossiysk, a significant revenue source for Putin’s military operations. Although there is no independent verification of a direct hit, the presence of a Ukrainian drone near a prominent Russian warship is seen as a potential embarrassment for Putin and his defense systems.
According to reports, a Russian-controlled drilling rig, Sivash, was also struck by the Ukrainian navy in a coordinated operation. Additionally, a Russian drone attack on Odesa, a southern Ukrainian port city, resulted in casualties, including the deaths of two women and a two-year-old child. The attack caused significant damage to an apartment building, with rescue efforts underway to save individuals trapped in the rubble.
The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine has led to substantial civilian casualties, with over 15,000 people reported killed by the United Nations. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky highlighted the recent intensification of Russian attacks, which included numerous drones, glide bombs, and missiles launched at Ukraine. The situation remains dire as the conflict escalates, impacting innocent civilians caught in the crossfire.
