“Sugar Sculpture of Tower Bridge Unveiled in London”

Date:

A remarkable sugar sculpture resembling London’s iconic Tower Bridge has been unveiled, showcasing intricate details and craftsmanship. Constructed using over 25kg of sugar, equivalent to almost 100,000 calories, this masterpiece took more than 150 hours to complete, featuring key elements like the towers and the walkway.

Standing at almost two-and-a-half-feet tall, the sculpture includes meticulously designed windows, doors, and suspension rods. Renowned artist Michelle Wibowo meticulously studied the bridge’s architecture before crafting this stunning replica.

Commissioned by Kellogg’s for the ‘Reductive Art Exhibition – a story of salt and sugar,’ the sculpture highlights the company’s efforts in reducing salt and sugar content in its cereals by 18% and 23% respectively over the past decade. Wibowo expressed her excitement about creating a piece for the exhibition, emphasizing the historical design research involved in replicating Tower Bridge.

The free exhibition, set to open in London and Paris on 8th and 9th September at gallery@oxo, will feature an array of salt and sugar sculptures, sketches, and animations created by notable artists including Quentin Devine, Gala Bell, Bashir Sultani, and Tim Simpson. A spokesperson from Kellogg’s emphasized the brand’s commitment to promoting healthier breakfast choices through recipe improvements without compromising taste.

The exhibition aims to visually showcase Kellogg’s dedication to reducing salt and sugar in its cereals while retaining their delicious flavor. Visitors can explore a variety of unique sculptures and artworks that symbolize the brand’s focus on providing products that cater to consumers’ preferences for healthier options.
