In a recent Cabinet meeting at the White House, former President Donald Trump criticized UK aircraft carriers as inadequate for military operations, dismissing them as “toys.” Trump also expressed frustration over UK opposition to his potential use of British soil for launching military actions in Iran.
During his lengthy remarks, Trump raised concerns about the Chagos Islands and referenced Iran’s missile targeting of Diego Garcia, indicating surprise at Iran’s missile capabilities. He accused NATO of inaction in supporting the US during conflicts in the Middle East, criticizing their delayed willingness to assist only after the war had progressed.
Regarding the UK’s offer to send aircraft carriers, Trump belittled their capabilities compared to US carriers, rejecting the delayed offer as unnecessary. Cabinet member Pete Hegseth warned of potential threats to London from Tehran, highlighting Iran’s recent missile tests as evidence of their extended reach.
Hegseth emphasized the proximity of London to Iran, challenging the notion that Iran posed no global threat. Trump echoed these sentiments, asserting that Iran’s actions were concerning and required attention.
