Apple has had a hectic week, unveiling a range of new products, including the iPhone 17e, upgraded iPad Air, and new MacBook Pro models with M5 processors. The latest announcement introduces the MacBook Neo, a budget-friendly laptop featuring a vibrant design and a high-resolution 13-inch screen for just £599, making it the most affordable Mac available.
Priced £500 lower than the latest MacBook Air, the MacBook Neo is powered by Apple’s A18 Pro-series smartphone processor, providing adequate performance for daily digital tasks despite not matching the speed of M-powered PCs. Running macOS, the laptop offers access to popular applications like Microsoft Word, Pages, and iMovie.
With over 15 hours of battery life, the MacBook Neo is highly efficient and includes two USB-C ports but lacks MagSafe charging. Additional features comprise a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, Touch ID fingerprint scanner, dual side-firing speakers supporting Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos, a Magic Keyboard, and a Multi-Touch trackpad. Available in Silver, Indigo, Blush, and Citrus colors, the MacBook Neo is now open for pre-orders and will be in stores next week.
John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering, expressed excitement about the MacBook Neo, emphasizing its affordability and unique features, such as a durable aluminum design, Liquid Retina display, Apple silicon performance, all-day battery life, and macOS functionalities. Ternus highlighted the laptop’s high-quality camera, microphones, and speakers, along with the Magic Keyboard and Multi-Touch trackpad, as distinguishing factors setting it apart from other laptops.
