Liz Truss criticized Keir Starmer for allegedly supporting the opposing side in the Iran conflict during a passionate speech at a pro-Trump event in Texas. The former Prime Minister represented Britain at the CPAC International Conference, a smaller gathering preceding the larger MAGA conference in Dallas.
Accusing the Labour Party of having an “islamist” voter base, Truss implied that the UK government avoided involvement in Donald Trump’s actions in the Middle East to appease this demographic. She claimed that the current government in Britain is leaning towards socialism and prioritizing the interests of islamist voters.
According to Truss, the UK government’s reluctance to take a clear stance on Iran and its failure to offer military bases for strikes were driven by concerns about their voter base. She criticized the Prime Minister for being indecisive and suggested that he was supporting the opposite side in the conflict.
Truss also expressed dissatisfaction with the country’s emphasis on renewable energy over traditional energy sources like fracking and North Sea drilling. This appearance marks her third time speaking at the CPAC event, a notable gathering for right-wing figures and Trump administration officials.
The upcoming panel discussion where Truss will participate focuses on “The Future of Europe,” scheduled for Friday. Other notable speakers on the agenda include Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, ICE chief Tom Homan, actor Dean Cain, and YouTuber Nick Shirley known for exposing fraud.
The CPAC event has historically drawn high-profile attendees, with Elon Musk and the President himself making appearances in previous years. While the President’s attendance at this year’s event is unconfirmed, Truss is expected to deliver another speech on Friday.
