In Northern Super League action on Sunday, the Montreal Roses secured a 2-0 victory against AFC Toronto with a winning penalty goal by Marie-Yasmine Alidou in the 55th minute. Elyse Bennett contributed an insurance goal, marking her ninth of the season, for the Roses (9-4-3), who were under the guidance of interim head coach Maryse Bard-Martel for the first time.

Despite Shelina Zadorsky’s efforts to equalize for Toronto (7-5-4) with a goal in the 68th minute, it was disallowed due to an offside call. Montreal Roses’ goalkeeper Anna Karpenko displayed a strong performance, facing 20 shots, including nine on target, and securing a clean sheet.

This victory marks an important step for the Roses as they continue their journey in the league, showcasing their resilience and determination on the field.
