Households looking to enjoy television content without a monthly subscription now have an expanded array of choices. Freely was initially introduced in 2024, offering access to live channels through a broadband connection. Initially, the service was limited to a few new TV models, but in the past 18 months, more manufacturers like Hisense, Toshiba, and Sharp have integrated Freely into their screens. Previously, individuals interested in accessing live and on-demand content through Freely had to purchase a new television from a tech retailer.
The technology team at Manhattan has recently unveiled the Aero 4K, a new Freely-powered set-top box that can now bring this service to any existing TV in a home.
The Aero 4K device provides access to over 60 live channels and on-demand content without the need for a costly subscription, all available for free. Additional features of this box include voice search, personalized recommendations, a comprehensive TV guide, and the ability to pause live content. Subscribers to platforms like Disney+ and Netflix can also access these apps through the device.
Priced at £69.99, the Aero 4K has gained popularity among consumers.
Currys has become the first UK retailer to offer the Manhattan Aero 4K, and the latest update indicates that it is currently “out of stock.”
According to Curry’s statement to Mirror Online, the device was quickly sold out but is expected to return to stock soon.
Interested buyers can register their email address on the Currys website to receive alerts once the device is available again. It is anticipated that other retailers, including Amazon and John Lewis, will also start selling the Aero 4K.
Once back in stock, the Aero 4K will compete with devices like Virgin’s Stream box and Sky Stream, all of which eliminate the need for antennas or satellite dishes by delivering shows, sports, and movies over the internet.
Moving towards streaming offers benefits such as easier installation without requiring a technician visit and more frequent software updates.
The television landscape is evolving rapidly, with Freely reporting a user base of over a million. This number is expected to increase as more people transition from traditional viewing methods to streaming.
