The Canadian senior women’s basketball team dominated the Philippines with a resounding 85-38 victory at the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament in Guadalajara, Mexico, on Wednesday. Yvonne Ejim led the scoring for Canada with 19 points, while Syla Swords contributed 15 points to the win.
Canada took an early lead, establishing a commanding 23-4 advantage at Arena Astros, which extended to 46-11 by halftime. The ongoing eight-team qualifier event is scheduled to run until Sunday.
Having secured a 72-57 win against Senegal in their opening game on Monday, the Canadian team is set to face host Mexico in their upcoming match on Thursday. The ultimate victor of the tournament will clinch a spot in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in February 2028.
