A new TV judge has entered the scene, and he faces a challenging legacy to uphold. CBS Media Ventures unveiled a trailer for “Adam’s Law,” a fresh daytime courtroom series featuring Adam Levy, the 58-year-old son of the renowned Judge Judy.
Fans of Judge Judy’s sharp wit, no-nonsense attitude, and fiery demeanor are in for a treat. The trailer showcases Levy emanating a similar courtroom energy, delivering clever and incisive remarks from the bench that would make his mother, Judith Sheindlin, proud.
Interestingly, Sheindlin initially had reservations about passing on the gavel. In the trailer, she humorously admitted that she wouldn’t have encouraged her son to take on the show five or ten years ago because she wasn’t ready to relinquish her role. Sheindlin even joked that Levy might outshine her, a prospect she finds unsettling.
The upcoming series, executive produced by Sheindlin herself, is scheduled to debut on September 14, five years after the conclusion of the original “Judge Judy” show, which enjoyed a successful 25-season run on CBS. Known for its iconic opening line, “The people are real. The cases are real. The rulings are final,” the show garnered a massive audience of 10 million viewers per episode.
Levy, with over 25 years of legal experience, including serving as a district attorney in New York’s Putnam County, is well-equipped to lead “Adam’s Law.” He emphasizes the importance of truthfulness in the courtroom, expressing disdain for demonstrably false statements.
Confident in her son’s abilities, Sheindlin believes that “Adam’s Law” will become a top-rated daytime program, appealing to the same audience that embraced her for three decades. She praises Levy’s legal acumen, academic background, and captivating on-screen presence.
Levy is no stranger to courtroom reality TV, previously presiding as a judge on programs like “Tribunal Justice” and “Justice on Trial.” “Adam’s Law” is set to air on various CBS-owned stations in the U.S., including CBS LA and WCBS-TV, and in Canada on Citytv and Citytv+ starting September 14.
