“Allegations of Israeli Wildfires in Lebanon”

Date:

PODCAST | FRONT BURNER:

Over the recent weekend, Israeli airstrikes led to the deaths of a minimum of 11 individuals in the southern part of Lebanon, as reported by the nation’s health ministry. This incident marked the most fatal attack since a fragile truce was established in June to cease the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, despite ongoing assaults.

Besides the aerial bombings and drone strikes, inhabitants and emergency responders in the area are alleging that Israeli military units are purposely igniting wildfires that have been devastating homes, woodlands, and olive groves across the troubled region.

This situation has instilled fear among the residents regarding their ability to remain in the area and the uncertainty of hundreds of thousands who were displaced during the conflict ever being able to return.

Will Christou, a correspondent for The Guardian stationed in Beirut, has been providing coverage on the wildfires and the broader Israeli operations in southern Lebanon.
