British Mother Jade Bird Recovers from Meningitis in Tenerife

Date:

A significant development has been reported following the ordeal of a British mother who fell seriously ill with meningitis while in Tenerife.

Jade Bird, aged 33, fell sick as she was getting ready to return home from Spain earlier this month. She was swiftly taken to a nearby hospital where doctors diagnosed her with meningitis.

Jade, who works as a carer and hails from Abergele, was put into a medically induced coma with her family rushing to be by her side. Her sibling recounted, “She traveled to Tenerife with her partner for a vacation. During their stay, she began experiencing ear pain, followed by episodes of vomiting.”

After a period of uncertainty, a close friend of Jade provided an update stating that she had sufficiently recovered to be discharged and had made her way back home. Jade was discharged on Thursday and flew back home on the same day.

A family acquaintance informed The Mirror: “She is now back in the UK, in good condition, stable, and is presently under evaluation at a local hospital as she continues her recovery.”

Jade mentioned that the initial GoFundMe initiative, which successfully raised funds for her family to travel to Spain, has been closed. She encouraged those wishing to contribute to redirect their donations towards a charity that holds special significance for her.

“The funds have enabled my family to make multiple flights, remain by my side for weeks, and will support my time off work for a full recovery and to spend time with my daughter until I am fully healed,” Jade expressed. “Additionally, it has allowed us to make a donation to a worthy cause named Tommy’s Story, and I aim to raise awareness for their cause.”

“Tommy resides in Sale, my hometown. He is a 5-year-old boy, the same age as my daughter Skyla, currently undergoing palliative chemotherapy while seeking treatment in the U.S. We would not have been able to make the donation without all your support.”

“I consider myself extremely fortunate to be alive, and I am deeply appreciative of everyone. I will never forget this experience. Each day, I wake up feeling overwhelmed by the love and support.”

“You are truly remarkable individuals, and I will forever be thankful, grateful to Tenerife Hospital for saving my life, grateful to all of you for allowing my family to be present, and immensely thankful that my daughter still has her mother.”
