A young boy from Calgary who was saved from drowning in a river in British Columbia is currently recovering in a hospital, with his family revealing that his lungs have suffered significant damage. The incident occurred on August 3 when nine-year-old Paul-Angelo Warren was swimming and diving in the Shuswap River near Enderby. Witnesses noticed he had not surfaced after diving and quickly came to his aid, pulling him from the water shortly after he went missing. According to a statement from the RCMP, the boy was trapped against fallen trees by the river’s strong current before being rescued and administered CPR on the shore. Authorities estimate that he may have been submerged for up to 10 minutes.
The child is now receiving care at Vancouver Children’s Hospital, where his family remains by his side. Paul-Angelo’s mother, Maria Warren, shared in an interview on Tuesday that she is constantly with him, hoping that he will open his eyes to see her and hear her voice.
