“Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame 2026 Inducts NBA All-Star and Coaching Legends”

Date:

The Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame’s 2026 induction ceremony featured notable figures such as former NBA player Jamaal Magloire, ex-Carleton Ravens men’s head coach Dave Smart, and Olympic flag-bearer Miranda Ayim. Magloire, known for his 12-year NBA career and All-Star status with the Memphis Grizzlies in 2004, was the first Canadian to play for the Toronto Raptors in 2011. He later transitioned to coaching, serving as an assistant for the Raptors during their championship season in 2018-19 and now holds a vice-president role with the Scarborough Shooting Stars in the Canadian Elite Basketball League.

Smart’s impact on Carleton University’s men’s basketball program was significant, leading the team to 13 U Sports championships, establishing a dynasty during his tenure. Ayim, a former captain of Canada’s senior women’s national team, shared the honor of carrying the Canadian flag alongside rugby sevens player Nathan Hirayama at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

The class of 2026, unveiled on July 2, includes other distinguished individuals such as players Michael Meeks, Anna Stammberger, Dan Meagher, and Teresa Kleindienst, coaches Peter (Doc) Ryan, official Janice Deakin, and builder Dr. Andrew Pipe. This esteemed group of 10 will be officially inducted at a ceremony in St. Stephen, N.B.
