A social media figure known for sharing her journey with cancer has sadly passed away at the age of 31 after initially downplaying her symptoms.
Letícia Siqueira Oliveira, who was in good health before her diagnosis, chronicled her battle with the disease on various online platforms.
Her passing was announced on March 17 by a close friend in a heartfelt video message to her substantial following. The friend tearfully revealed that Letícia had prepared for this by requesting the video be made if the worst were to happen.
Referred to as Lê by those close to her, Letícia first noticed unusual symptoms at the age of 28, but attributed them to factors like food sensitivities and stress due to her busy life, which included pursuing a master’s degree, renovating her home, buying a flat, and planning her wedding.
Despite initially attempting to manage her symptoms with over-the-counter remedies for several months, Letícia eventually sought medical attention when her condition worsened. Doctors discovered a late-stage tumor in her bowel with additional growths in her ovaries and peritoneum.
Following a significant surgical procedure that involved the removal of portions of her bowel, reproductive organs, and lymph nodes, Letícia underwent chemotherapy and used a colostomy bag during her recovery.
In an emotional message last year, Letícia described the challenges of living with a stoma, expressing both frustration and gratitude for the life lessons it brought her.
Letícia, a physiotherapist, transitioned to palliative care at the age of 30. Despite understanding the gravity of her situation, she remained resolute in her desire to embrace life fully, even after marrying her partner.
Her friend paid tribute to Letícia’s unwavering strength and resilience, highlighting her determination to live life to the fullest until the very end.
