“Flight Chaos: UK-Middle East Routes Disrupted”

Date:

A significant number of flights to and from the United Kingdom have been canceled today amidst the ongoing conflict in Iran.

Numerous airlines are experiencing disruptions in their schedules due to airspace limitations in the Middle East, resulting in the cancellation of 21,915 out of 38,193 planned flights since February 28.

Dubai International Airport briefly suspended operations on Wednesday morning following a drone attack in the vicinity that injured four individuals. However, flights have now resumed according to authorities.

Emirates and Etihad are currently operating with reduced schedules from Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports respectively. Meanwhile, Qatar Airways is actively assisting affected passengers and facilitating their reunification with family members, as Qatari airspace remains inaccessible.

The airline has indicated that services will recommence “once the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority confirms the safe reopening of Qatari airspace.”

British Airways recently announced the suspension of all flights to and from Amman, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai, and Tel Aviv until later this month. Additionally, services to and from Abu Dhabi are canceled until later this year, resulting in the cancellation of numerous BA flights in the upcoming months.

Flight data provided exclusively to the Mirror by analytics company Cirium reveals that 55 planned flights scheduled for today had been canceled as of 12:45 pm, accounting for 2.49% of the total flights intended between the UK and the Middle East.

For individuals with upcoming travel plans to or from the Middle East, it is advisable to consult their airline’s website for guidance and refer to the latest travel advice on the Foreign Office website.
