Ottawa’s Gabriela Dabrowski and Barbora Krejcikova from Czechia have progressed in the Cincinnati Open. They secured a victory over the fourth-seeded pair consisting of Spain’s Cristina Bucsa and Nicole Melichar-Martinez from the United States with a score of 6-3, 1-6, 10-4 during the Round of 32 in the women’s doubles event. This tournament marks the first time Dabrowski and Krejcikova have teamed up. Their next challenge in the Round of 16, scheduled for Tuesday, will be against the unseeded Czech pair Linda Noskova and Marie Bouzkova.
Additionally, Leylah Fernandez from Laval, Que., and her partner Sara Errani from Italy competed against Romania’s Sorana Cirstea and Mira Andreeva from Russia on Monday. Fernandez had previously faced a defeat against China’s Xiyu Wang in the women’s singles tournament’s second round on Sunday.
