“Health Updates for Injured Grand National Horses”

Date:

Health updates have been provided for three horses that were injured in falls during the recent Grand National event. Mr Vango, Top Of The Bill, and Quai De Bourbon were all evaluated after accidents occurred during the race at Aintree, near Liverpool.

Mr Vango, who suffered an avulsion fracture in the neck after falling at the sixth fence, is currently receiving care at Leahurst Equine Hospital. Trainer Sara Bradstock expressed optimism about the horse’s recovery, emphasizing that he is being closely monitored and will undergo a CT scan before being discharged.

Despite the setback, Bradstock remains hopeful that Mr Vango could return to racing in the future, depending on the results of further assessments. The trainer acknowledged the support received and mentioned plans for the horse to reunite with his Shetland pony companion during the recovery process.

Another injured horse, Top Of The Bill, was assessed on the course and found to be in good condition following the fall. Jockey Toby McCain-Mitchell received a 10-day suspension for not pulling up the horse promptly after the incident.

Quai De Bourbon, trained by Willie Mullins, was also examined post-fall and was expected to be transported back home after the race. The horses’ trainers reported positive updates on their conditions, indicating that both Top Of The Bill and Beauport were doing well.

For those interested in upcoming events, coverage of The Masters will begin on April 6, with live streaming options available through Sky’s Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle.
