John Tory Named Chairman of TIFF Board

John Tory, the ex-mayor of Toronto, has been appointed as the new chairman of the board of directors at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Tory expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with TIFF’s board, leaders, artists, filmmakers, and the wider community to influence the festival’s future direction.

Tory’s tenure officially commences on October 1, as confirmed in a recent press release. The festival is scheduled to take place from September 10 to 20 this year. He succeeds Jeffrey Remedios, who held the position since 2021. Remedios commended TIFF and its leadership, expressing everlasting pride in his contribution to the festival’s evolution.

Additionally, TIFF disclosed the addition of three new board members—Deborah Flint, David Furnish, and Daniel Tisch Echevarría. The organization also bid farewell to Asha Daniere, a longstanding board member of nine years, extending gratitude for her dedication and service to the organization.
