“K-Pop Takeover Delights Families at Drayton Manor”

Date:

If you have a child in elementary school, chances are you’re familiar with the lively tunes of K-Pop, short for Korean Pop. While K-Pop has been captivating music enthusiasts for some time, 2026 is shaping up to be a significant year for the genre.

K-Pop Demon Hunters has made history on Netflix as the most-watched original title, amassing 500 million views, with many coming from households like mine. Moreover, K-Pop bands have dominated the charts, with a record-breaking seven tracks making it to the top 40 singles chart in August 2025, featuring popular groups like BLACKPINK and Stray Kids. The announcement of a tour by BTS caused a frenzy reminiscent of Taylor Swift, selling out UK dates within 30 minutes.

Therefore, it was hardly surprising that Drayton Manor, a theme park in the West Midlands, announced a K-Pop Takeover for the February half term. My daughter was ecstatic about attending a K-Pop themed day, dressed in her beloved HUNTR/X hoodie. Naturally, we had a fitting playlist queued up on Spotify for the journey.

Although the park operates on a limited basis during February half term, the ticket price includes access to Thomas Land, several rides, and the zoo, starting at £19.90. This pricing structure acknowledges that visitors won’t experience the full theme park offerings.

Upon our arrival, we caught the ‘K-Pop games’ on the main stage, led by an enthusiastic entertainer engaging kids in activities like red light, green light, and singing along to Golden. A K-Pop themed dance workshop followed, with excited children showcasing their moves on the glittering stage.

While K-Pop influence was somewhat limited throughout the park, save for Korean fried chicken at the burger bar and Korean souvenirs at the gift shop, the day concluded with a crowd-pleasing K-Pop concert.

Three performers, attired as a K-Pop girl group, entertained the audience with songs from HUNTR/X, Saja Boys, and Rosé, culminating in a water show at the park’s lake. Attendees of all ages grooved to the music, impressed by the lead singer’s rendition of Golden’s high notes.

However, the standout feature at Drayton Manor remains Thomas Land, which received the silver award for Best Theme Park for Toddlers in 2025. Guests of all ages reveled in the Sodor-themed attraction, with even adults posing for photos with Thomas, showcasing the enduring appeal of the show.

Overall, the K-Pop Takeover at Drayton Manor proved to be a worthwhile experience. While K-Pop theming was relatively sparse beyond the main stage, the end-of-day concert was a highlight for my youngest, who hasn’t stopped talking about it. For those solely interested in the concert, separate tickets are available. Nevertheless, a visit to Thomas Land is always a delightful outing, just remember to bundle up warmly.
