The lifeless bodies of a man and woman, who were married, were found wrapped in a rug.
Authorities in Malaysia revealed that the man, aged 65, and the woman, aged 53, were uncovered in the kitchen of a residence in Kampung Belau, Merbok. The couple’s son, 29, was located in a bedroom with cuts on his neck, as stated by local police chief Hanyan Ramlan.
Several sharp tools were discovered near his body. The individuals were identified by local media as Zikri Abdul Rahman, his wife Suraya Man, and their son, Muhammad Shakir Zufayri Abdul Aziz.
Concerned citizens contacted the police after not seeing the family for three days, according to Hanyan Ramlan. Law enforcement officers searched the premises and encountered the deceased couple at their home. Residents had also complained of a putrid odor emanating from the vicinity, prompting officers to enter and find the deceased husband and wife.
Due to the advanced decomposition, authorities suspect that the couple had passed away more than two days ago, as reported by the Express. While the bodies of the 65-year-old man and 53-year-old woman had decomposed further, it is believed that the son perished later.
The son is said to have a history of mental health challenges, according to Free Malaysia Today, citing investigators.
Autopsies were scheduled to be conducted at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar city. Free Malaysia Today also noted that authorities are treating the incident as a homicide investigation.
