A mother of three was discovered deceased in a freezer at her residence earlier this month, as revealed in court proceedings.
The inquest into the passing of Carolann Barraclough, 37, also known as Caz, commenced at Wakefield Coroner’s Court. Confirmation of Caz’s demise was provided by a Yorkshire Ambulance Service paramedic who responded to her home in Horbury, Wakefield, on March 6.
Coroner Oliver Longstaff disclosed that it seemed Carolann had been located inside a freezer at her home. He emphasized that the inquest was not drawing any conclusions at this stage. A post mortem examination cited the cause of death as “blunt force head trauma pending further investigation.”
During the hearing, it was disclosed that Carolann’s husband had been accused of her murder. Mr. Longstaff halted the coronial inquiry.
In remembrance, heartfelt cards and floral tributes were left on Ken Churchill Drive, with one message describing Carolann as a “beautiful and amazing sister” with a radiant smile. The family expressed gratitude for the outpouring of messages, cards, and flowers.
Carolann was acknowledged as a cherished mother, daughter, sister, cousin, and friend.
David Barraclough, 45, residing at Ken Churchill Drive, Horbury, made a court appearance at Leeds Magistrates’ Court this month on charges of Carolann’s murder.
DCI Stacey Atkinson, from the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, reassured the public early in the police investigation, stating, “We understand the impact of this incident locally and can confirm that we are not seeking any other individuals in connection with this case.”
