A mother was caught on camera expressing distress and claiming “it’s not fair” after her boyfriend caused fatal injuries to her two-year-old son, Kol Page. The tragic incident resulted in the child’s death due to severe internal injuries sustained under the care of Zoe Coutts and Scott O’Connor, a former Territorial Army corporal. Surveillance footage captured Coutts, 35, emotionally breaking down in front of police officers, defending herself by saying, “He’s my baby. I do everything for my children.”
The distressing footage from a police bodycam was revealed following O’Connor’s conviction for manslaughter in Kol’s death and Coutts’ conviction for causing or allowing the death of a child. The court proceedings unveiled a series of lies concocted by the couple to evade accountability after Kol suffered catastrophic injuries. The trial at Southwark Crown Court disclosed O’Connor’s brutal treatment of Kol, including physical abuse that led to the child’s severe disabilities and eventual passing at the age of four.
Text messages exchanged between Coutts and O’Connor revealed their callous attitude towards Kol’s well-being, with O’Connor making disturbing remarks about the child. Despite the escalating severity of Kol’s injuries, the defendants failed to acknowledge any wrongdoing during the trial. Coutts denied harming her son and shifted the blame onto O’Connor, claiming she was unaware of the abuse until the evidence surfaced.
