A skincare company, Neutrogena, has faced renewed controversy following the passing of Hayden Panettiere. The actress, known for roles in “Heroes” and “Nashville,” served as a global brand ambassador for Neutrogena from 2005 to 2015. After openly discussing her postpartum depression on a TV show in 2015, Panettiere’s partnership with Neutrogena came to an end.
During a podcast interview with Jay Shetty in May, Panettiere claimed that Neutrogena attempted to terminate her contract due to her 2015 comments under the morality clause. Despite objections from her representative, Panettiere felt she would not be invited back to represent Neutrogena the following year. Following the incident, she received no communication from the company.
Neutrogena’s parent company, Kenvue, did not respond to CBC News’ inquiries about the reasons behind ending the partnership with Panettiere. In 2018, Panettiere entrusted full custody of her daughter to her ex-fiancé due to her struggles with addiction and postpartum depression.
After the release of the podcast episode, fans initiated a boycott against Neutrogena, with some influencers openly criticizing the company. With Panettiere’s recent passing, fans have reignited their criticism on social media platforms, urging Neutrogena to address the allegations. Comments on Neutrogena’s Instagram and Threads accounts have demanded accountability for their actions towards Panettiere.
Panettiere’s daughter, Kaya, is now 11 years old. Klitschko, her ex-fiancé, expressed his condolences online, emphasizing the importance of remembering Panettiere’s legacy. The online community continues to highlight the treatment of Panettiere by Neutrogena, calling for accountability and a boycott of the brand.
