O’Sullivan will venture into new territory in Yorkshire as he gears up for his debut at the World Seniors Snooker Championship starting on May 6. The event will span five days and promises to be an exciting challenge for the seasoned player.
The World Seniors Snooker Tour has confirmed O’Sullivan’s participation, highlighting him as a key attraction for the tournament. The tour expressed excitement about having ‘The Rocket’ on board, noting his immense commercial success and appeal in the sport. O’Sullivan will be in esteemed company alongside other world champions like Mark Williams, Stuart Bingham, and Ken Doherty.
The tournament roster includes a stellar lineup featuring renowned players such as Jimmy White, Matthew Stevens, and Tony Drago, among others. The Chairman of the event, Jason Francis, emphasized the significance of O’Sullivan’s involvement and the spike in ticket sales driven by his participation.
Following the recent World Championship, the World Snooker Tour revised its rules to allow professional players aged 45 or above, ranked in the top 64, to compete in the seniors’ circuit. O’Sullivan, with seven world titles under his belt, is eyeing an eighth title after his successful 2022 campaign that saw him equal Stephen Hendry’s record.
