Sky has introduced new smart home plans in the UK that offer internet-connected cameras and cloud recordings starting at just £5 a month. The plans aim to provide consumers with an affordable option for home security, potentially saving over £100 compared to purchasing a Ring system through Amazon.
There are two plan options available. The first plan includes a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month, with a £15 upfront fee. This package features full HD video recording, instant alerts to your phone, customizable activity zones, two-way talk, and 30 days of cloud video storage.
For those seeking additional security measures, the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ is available at £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee. This package includes an indoor camera and extra app features like scheduled arming and automatic arm modes.
Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized the focus on making high-quality smart technology accessible and user-friendly. The new plans expand Sky’s home security offerings, moving beyond their previous Protect Smart Home Insurance bundled with cameras and alarms. Customers can now purchase Sky Smart Home products as standalone services for the first time.
In comparison, Amazon currently sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99, with an additional cost for cloud recording access through a Ring Protect subscription starting at £4.99 per month.
