Advanced weather forecasting data indicates that snow is expected to fall in various regions of the UK during the upcoming Easter weekend. The ECMWF model suggests that there could be flurries in the far north of Scotland on Friday afternoon, with the potential for more widespread snow later in the weekend.
On Sunday, the ECMWF maps show snowfall in Belfast, Manchester, and Glasgow around midday, with possible wintry showers in northern England and Northern Ireland. Additionally, heavy snow is forecasted for western parts of Scotland.
The Met Office has warned of “unsettled” weather conditions over the Easter weekend, with a likelihood of wet and windy weather in some areas. Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist, Steven Keates, mentioned that rain showers are expected on Good Friday and Easter Saturday, followed by sunny spells and showers. Windy conditions are also anticipated, especially in exposed north-western areas, with a strong indication of continued wet and windy weather through the Easter Weekend.
BBC weather forecasters echo similar sentiments, predicting wet and windy conditions. Strong winds are expected, potentially leading to gales in parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland. Heavy rain is anticipated, with a chance of precipitation in Wales and the north and west of England. Sunday is forecasted to be chilly and showery, with frequent wintry showers in northern and western Scotland, while southern and eastern England may experience fewer showers and more sunshine.
