An airplane was compelled to conduct an emergency landing at Belfast City Airport on the evening of Sunday, March 29, due to strong wind gusts that raised serious safety concerns.
Several flights were put on hold for more than two hours as a precautionary measure before landing, as powerful winds affected the harbor runway in East Belfast. Flights from Birmingham, Manchester, and Liverpool all experienced significant delays because of the challenging weather conditions.
Wind gusts reaching 33mph were observed in the area throughout Sunday.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the airport confirmed that the emergency landing was a precautionary action and that all passengers and crew safely disembarked the aircraft.
Around five fire engines from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service were on standby, as reported by Belfast Live.
