The body of a teenager who had been missing for a fortnight following a car accident has been discovered in a river.
Declan Berry, 18, was involved in a car crash that occurred on Tuesday, March 17, where the vehicle he was in plunged into the River Nene near Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. Eden Bunn, 16, another passenger in the blue VW Polo, was found deceased shortly after the incident, while three other teenagers sustained injuries and were hospitalized.
After an extensive search, authorities confirmed that the body found in the river at Crab Marsh, Wisbech, belonged to Declan. Cambridgeshire Police stated that Declan’s family had been informed, requesting privacy for the grieving family during this difficult time.
Declan, a resident of Wisbech, had aspirations of joining the British Army in the upcoming summer, as per his family’s online tribute. Describing him as a diligent and ambitious young man, his family highlighted his cheerful and compassionate personality, emphasizing the impact he had on those around him.
Following the tragic accident, both family members and emergency services had been diligently scouring the riverbank. Search efforts involved specialized teams, including the police and fire service, combing through miles of the tidal river.
In a separate incident, a group of teenagers lost their lives in a car crash near Shifnal, Shropshire. The fatal accident occurred on Offoxey Road in Tong, involving a silver Audi A1. Reports indicated that the Audi A1 was in the vicinity of a red Vauxhall Corsa and a black VW Golf at the time, although these vehicles were not directly involved in the collision.
In the wake of these tragic events, floral tributes have been laid at the site where Eden lost her life. Eden’s family expressed their profound grief, describing her as a kind-hearted and loving individual, with a passion for her horses, Daisy and Dolly.
