A man contacted emergency services after being trapped in his garage by his spouse, moments before gunshots rang out. Collin Turner, a former US Marine, tragically lost his life five years ago in a shocking murder case at his residence in Gulf Breeze, Florida, where he lived with his wife Bree Kuhn and their three young children.
Kuhn, a US Navy chief petty officer, faced repeated police visits on September 8, 2021, amidst escalating tensions in their household. Collin, who had taken on the role of a stay-at-home father and was studying electrical engineering, sought to bring the children to his parents’ home, sparking disagreement with Kuhn.
Despite prior law enforcement visits with no physical evidence of violence, the situation escalated when Collin found himself locked in the garage by Kuhn. Desperate, he called 911 once more, disclosing the harrowing ordeal before gunshots interrupted the call, leading to his tragic demise.
Following her arrest, Kuhn claimed self-defense, stating that Collin’s attempt to take the children prompted her actions. The subsequent murder trial revealed conflicting narratives, with Kuhn ultimately convicted of premeditated first-degree murder in September 2024 and sentenced to life imprisonment.
In the courtroom, Kuhn’s defense argued that she acted out of fear for the children’s safety, while prosecutors disputed the validity of her claims. Collin’s family expressed profound grief over the loss, particularly highlighting the impact on the surviving children, who now live under their care, haunted by the trauma and fear of further loss.
