An environmentally friendly vacation park near Morpeth in Northumberland has been recognized as the top destination in the region at the recent Destination North East England Tourism Awards held on March 19.
Tranwell Farm Holidays secured the Camping, Glamping, and Holiday Park of the Year award at the 24th annual event. Situated on a family-managed farm for over six decades, the park has been offering distinctive glamping experiences since 2022.
Accommodation choices range from grass pitches amidst scenic meadows to personal caravan or campervan spaces. Additionally, guests can opt for a cozy shepherd’s hut for two, a comfortable camping pod, or two forest lodges with private log-fired hot tubs.
Visitors can partake in exclusive activities during their stay, such as interacting with the park’s rare breed lambs and enjoying stargazing in the designated ‘dark sky’ area.

Located just a brief 10-minute drive away is Morpeth, an ancient market town with the River Wansbeck meandering through its center. The town boasts a traditional high street with a mix of chain and independent stores, alongside the upscale boutiques at the indoor Sanderson Arcade.
Exploring the riverfront Carlisle Park, visitors can discover historic landmarks like Morpeth Court, now home to an antiques center, café, and holiday apartments. The medieval Morpeth Chantry, once a place of worship, now houses a bagpipe museum with live performances.
