Donald Trump has announced a deadline for potential action against Iran’s power plants if a resolution is not reached. The deadline extension for Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz has been set to April 6, with Trump using social media to convey the message to Iran.
Iran has been warning that any attack on its power plants would result in retaliatory strikes on neighboring countries’ power facilities. Additionally, the regime has threatened to target desalination plants crucial for water supply in Gulf nations, which could lead to a humanitarian crisis in the region.
Trump, posting on Truth Social, stated that he is pausing the destruction of energy plants for 10 days until April 6, 2026. He mentioned ongoing talks and refuted claims by the media that suggest otherwise, expressing optimism about the progress.
In response, the Iranian state news agency Farsna denied requesting an extension and reiterated the threat to close the Strait of Hormuz entirely. Iran also identified power plants in countries hosting US bases as potential targets.
Amidst reports of a ceasefire request by the US, Iran continued its offensive in the region. Sirens in Israel signaled incoming Iranian missile attacks, with Gulf nations working to intercept the strikes. Iran also faced heavy bombardment in its capital and other cities.
Despite suffering losses in its military and government due to US-Israeli operations, Iran persists in launching missiles without signs of internal rebellion. Iran aims to endure the attacks to potentially force the US to withdraw by leveraging its control over the vital Strait of Hormuz, disrupting global energy supplies and impacting the world economy.
