“Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Cleared to Play After Injury”

Date:

Toronto Blue Jays’ star player, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., has been cleared from the seven-day injured list and is set to return to action against the New York Yankees on Saturday. Guerrero sustained an injury during a game against the Yankees in Toronto last week following a collision with New York’s rookie shortstop George Lombard Jr. at third base in the sixth inning.

The incident occurred when Guerrero slid at third base, resulting in Lombard’s knee and thigh making contact with his head, causing his helmet to come off. Despite the injury, Guerrero managed to score a run before leaving the game. He rejoined the team on Friday after passing his final concussion tests and participating in a minor league rehabilitation game for single-A Dunedin, where he hit a double.

Following his return, Guerrero was placed second in the batting order for Saturday’s game, following the Blue Jays’ 3-1 loss to the Yankees in the series opener on Friday. In a corresponding move, the Jays reassigned infielder/outfielder Davis Schneider to triple-A Buffalo.

Guerrero currently holds a batting average of .263 with seven home runs and 46 RBIs. Prior to the injury, he had a strong performance, hitting .310 in his last seven games.
