Wizz Air has rolled out a new check-in service ahead of a busy travel season, allowing UK travelers to drop off their bags at the airport a day before their flight. As airports expect a surge in passengers during the February half-term, with families seeking warm destinations and others escaping the chilly British weather, Wizz Air aims to streamline the holiday experience for Brits by offering a twilight check-in option.
Launching on Monday, February 16, the service enables passengers flying out of London Luton Airport to check in and deposit their luggage the night before their morning flight. This service, operational from 9 pm to 2 am, caters to travelers scheduled for flights up to 9 am the next day. Wizz Air joins EasyJet and Jet2 as the third airline to provide twilight check-in services at Luton Airport, coinciding perfectly with the busy February half-term travel period where the airport anticipates handling around 325,000 passengers.
Popular post-Valentine’s weekend getaways from Luton Airport include Amsterdam, Bologna, and Paris for romantic couples, while destinations like Berlin, Budapest, Lisbon, Prague, and Seville are top choices for those seeking a city break during the half-term, offering pleasant weather and picturesque streets to explore.
For travelers in search of a sunny retreat, Palma de Mallorca, Murcia, and Malaga rank high among the favored destinations from Luton Airport. Additionally, Lanzarote, Madeira, as well as hotspots in Turkey like Antalya and Dalaman, remain sought-after for winter sun seekers.
To meet the growing demand, Wizz Air will introduce new routes from Luton to Barcelona, Madrid, Bilbao, Valencia, and Seville starting March 29. Likewise, Jet2 will launch five new routes to Corfu, Kos, Preveza, Skiathos, and Menorca from May 21.
Clare Armstrong, Head of Guest Experience at London Luton Airport, expressed excitement about the upcoming travel rush during February half-term, emphasizing the airport’s commitment to providing a seamless and friendly passenger experience. The introduction of the twilight check-in service aims to enhance passenger convenience, ensuring a smooth start to their journeys. Amid ongoing investments in passenger facilities, new retail outlets, and dining options, the airport is well-prepared to welcome and serve a diverse range of travelers.
