The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have reported the arrest of a juvenile in Montreal in relation to terrorism accusations. According to a recent statement, the RCMP indicated that the “young man” was allegedly planning an attack directed at a school within the city. It is claimed that he utilized artificial intelligence during the potential scheming of the attack and posted threatening messages on the platform Telegram, targeting various groups.
The investigation was initiated a few weeks ago following intelligence provided by the FBI. The individual was apprehended as part of a probe conducted by the Integrated National Security Enforcement Team, which comprises multiple agencies aimed at monitoring and disrupting criminal activities of terrorist entities or individuals considered a threat to Canada’s national security.
The police operation was designed to thwart the suspected activities of the individual and to secure a peace bond for monitoring and de-escalation efforts. The RCMP has disclosed that the individual is scheduled to appear in youth court on Friday, with potential charges to be laid at a later time.
