Canada showcased their dominance by claiming victory in the 2026 FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series in Takasaki, defeating Japan 20-10 in the final. This win marked their second title of the season, following their triumph in Shanghai in May.
The Canadian team, seeded at the top, asserted their authority throughout the tournament. They swept through Pool A, overcame China 21-9 in the quarterfinals, and defeated Neftchi SOCAR 22-12 in the semifinals. Paige Crozon shone against China, contributing 11 points and eight rebounds, while Merissah Russell added eight points in the semifinal match.
In the final showdown, Canada took an early lead and maintained their advantage against Japan, eventually securing a convincing 20-10 victory to clinch the Takasaki title. Russell’s outstanding performance earned her the Takasaki MVP title, leading the tournament in player value (45.3) and drives (12), and ranking second in total points (32) and highlights (17).
While Canada’s successful campaign in the Women’s Series concluded on a high note, they will not progress to the Project Redwings Shanghai Final in September.
