Apple has introduced a major software update with the goal of enhancing creativity for a wider audience. The prominent US tech company has unveiled a new platform named Creative Studio, offering MacBook and iPad users access to premium software at a more budget-friendly monthly rate.
This service provides complete access to professional applications like Final Cut Pro for video editing, Logic Pro for music creation, and Pixelmator Pro as an alternative to Adobe’s Photoshop.
Upon its launch later this month, Apple customers can subscribe to the service for £12.99 per month or £129 per year, a considerable value considering the software included in the package.
Individually, Final Cut Pro costs £300 on the App Store, while Logic Pro is priced at £200.
By transitioning to a subscription model, Apple aims to make these tools more reachable to a broader audience.
According to Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, “Apple Creator Studio is a remarkable value that empowers creators of all kinds to pursue their craft and enhance their skills by providing easy access to the most powerful and intuitive tools for video editing, music production, creative imaging, and visual productivity, all enhanced with advanced intelligent features to streamline workflows.”
Additional extras in Creative Studio include MainStage, which transforms a Mac into a musical instrument, voice processor, or guitar rig.
Motion is another feature, a robust graphics tool for generating cinematic 2D and 3D effects, offering intelligent functions like Magnetic Mask to effortlessly isolate and track subjects and objects without a green screen.
Subscribers will also receive enhanced features and premium content for Keynote, Pages, Numbers apps, and Freeform for iPhone, iPad, and Mac will be upgraded later in the year.
While Keynote, Pages, and Numbers will remain free for all users, improvements will be exclusive to Creative Studio subscribers.
Cue further stated, “There has never been a more flexible and accessible way to access a powerful collection of creative apps for professionals, emerging artists, entrepreneurs, students, and educators to excel in their work and explore their creative interests from start to finish.”
Apple Creator Studio will be accessible on the App Store starting Wednesday, January 28, with a one-month free trial for everyone and a three-month trial for those purchasing a MacBook or iPad.
Additionally, Apple has announced special pricing for university students, offering the software bundle at just £2.99 per month or £29.99 per year to support education.
