EE has unveiled an enhanced Scam Guard service to combat the increasing threat of scams targeting mobile users. The upgraded offering, available to EE pay-monthly customers for £2 per month, aims to provide improved protection against fraudulent activities.
Since its launch in 2024, Scam Guard has successfully thwarted 169 million scam and spam attempts. With the new version, EE anticipates doubling this figure over the next year. The core of the upgraded Scam Guard is the AI Triple-Lock Protection, which incorporates three key features powered by Norton’s Genie AI engine.
Safe Email offers proactive scam protection for email accounts round the clock, while Safe SMS uses advanced AI to identify and block sophisticated scams in text messages in real-time. Additionally, Safe Web leverages AI to safeguard customers from online scams and malicious websites before any harm is done.
The new Scam Guard upgrade also introduces the Scam Assistant tool, enabling customers to upload screenshots of suspicious messages or websites for instant feedback on their safety. Moreover, Social Media Monitoring and Dark Web Monitoring are included to detect and alert users to any potentially harmful online activities.
Malcolm Cubitt, Director of Product, Mobile at EE, emphasized the importance of adapting to the evolving landscape of fraud in the UK. He highlighted EE’s commitment to enhancing cyber security measures by leveraging innovative technologies and industry collaborations to protect customers from increasingly convincing scams.
By investing in network-level controls and maintaining a team of security experts, EE aims to offer its customers a higher level of protection against cyber threats through the enhanced Scam Guard service.
