President Donald Trump stirred controversy by sharing an image of himself depicted as Jesus Christ, causing a sensation on various social media platforms.
The image, labeled as “unhinged,” drew swift mockery from social media users, with one remarking on the perceived global madness. Another joked about Trump seemingly healing Jeffrey Epstein.
This post came shortly after Trump launched a scathing attack on Pope Leo, the head of the Catholic Church, through his Truth Social platform. Trump criticized Pope Leo’s stances on crime, foreign policy, migration, the Iran conflict, and the handling of the Covid pandemic. He even expressed a preference for Pope Leo’s brother, Louis.
In his post, Trump voiced his disapproval of a Pope who condones Iran having nuclear weapons and criticized the Pope for opposing the U.S.’s actions against Venezuela. Trump emphasized he was elected to carry out his duties and demanded that Pope Leo, the first U.S.-born pontiff, align with his views and cease pandering to the left-wing.
Trump’s criticism followed Pope Leo’s plea for world leaders to prioritize peace over conflict during a vigil in Vatican City. The Pope urged an end to self-centeredness, materialism, displays of power, and warfare, emphasizing that true strength lies in serving life.
