David Malukas set the pace during practice at the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy event in Markham. Malukas clocked a time of 1:14.194 in the second training session of the day, with qualifying scheduled for the evening. Following him, Alex Palou secured the second-best time with 1:14.560, while Dennis Hauger claimed the third spot, completing the Markham downtown road course in 1:14.592.
The first day of track activities had to be canceled by organizers due to the incomplete course that had not undergone safety inspections. Markham is hosting the race for the first time this year after it relocated from Toronto’s Exhibition Place, its home since the inaugural event in 1986. Earlier in the day, Palou had set the pace in the morning practice session with a time of 1:14.9915.
